He was clearly beaten on his seasonal debut, but looked fit and should come on. He also faces easier completion and the likes of SIDESTEP look unconvincing and prone to mistakes. He debuts for a new trainer and the market will say if there is interest.

MARY AM (1) looks fit and ready to open her account and was beaten by a better animal LTO. The opposition looks easier. EAGLE IN DISGUISE (7) is well-bred and an undeserved outside. Looks the wrong price. FIRST LOVE (2) ran twice as a 2yo, but has apparently wintered well and is interesting with Erik Adielsson. DIONES SAMRAGD was a big fancy on debut after a nice qualifier, and looked to give up when pushed. If there was such thing in Dennaro it would have a Timerform squiggle.

HOMBRE D. (1) has not won yet but shown good speed for this class. Seems reliable too and faces nice conditions here. However, we like the look of VALLEY DOC (5) who improved last autumn and kept a decent second lead in the last race of 2019. EMPEREUR D’INVERNE (2) came back alright after a mistake LTO and was a fast-finishing second in the race before after running defensively.

The favourite should be AMOUR AMOUR (3), but I quietly fancy OPTIMUM TERMINATOR (14) who has been running well of late and looks value.

Six from eight, means GGOJJDO (4) will be the hard-to-beat favourite. KALLSJOVIKING (14) , TIPPEX (10) and HIBOVALLE (12) are good for straight forecasts.

MR MARVELOUS (1) had a brace fo nice 3yo wins and won the last race of 2019 – looking in tip-top form. His Liljendahl stable looks to be flourishing and this an interesting seasonal debut. DIGITAL DOMINANCE (6) was beaten on speed in the lead in the seasonal debut two starts back and one suspects that this improving type will use the draw to attack from the front. LET’S GO ERNIE (14) has shown promise and his new trainer Nicklas Westerholm has been talking him up at home. He is not without a chance given his finishing speed.
