With not much doing on the social front, attention has turned to resolving some issues in the office – such as a mountain of papers. The Hon is on shredding duty, as she is rightly concerned that information is power, and in the days of paper recycling and special bins, a walk around Notting Hill recycling boxes on a Wednesday can provide even an average crim, with knowledge. TV licences, Medical reports, holiday insurance, bank statements, tax demands… all ammunition for the grinder.
Meanwhile, our Golfing Correspondent Sandy Lane writes:
The final round of an eventful Genesis Invitational will take place at the Riviera Country Club near Los Angeles today. On Friday, Patrick Cantlay stormed into a 5-shot lead whilst Tiger Woods, the tournament host, retired from play with a bout of flu and Jordan Spieth also packed his bags after signing for a 3 on the par 3 fourth hole when his correct score was in fact 4. Cantlay’s big lead was cut to 2 yesterday and he will play the final round today with his great buddy Xander Schauffle. Among our selections, Adam Scott and Cameron Young are both close to achieving top ten placings but the man to back is Will Zalatoris at 9/2, staking 2 points each-way. Zalatoris finished fourth in this tournament last year and played sublimely yesterday.
Good Luck – Sandy Lane
Over at Punchestown, there’s a Grand National Trial at 2:35 and a red-hot Mullins favourite who is priced as though he can’t be beaten. WE’LLHAVEWAN won a 25f Navan handicap hurdle LTO and hasn’t seen a fence since October 2022. As a result, he’s got a 21lb lower Chasing mark than his hurdles, and with only three races to date, you’d think there might be (given his trainer) more to come. Plus, Paul Townend has had to sweat some blood to make 10 stone today, so they must all be on big time. Still and all 11/8? That’s too skinny for me in a 16-runner handicap chase, especially when I can still get 12s about QUEEN JANE in the skilful hands of Rachel Blackmore. She’s of interest for a significant step up in trip and is on a winnable mark if she stays. The same price is also available on CLONMEEN and he’s on a treble after wins at Down Royal and here over 3m 7 weeks ago. He’s an out-and-out stayer and has winning form on heavy. I’ll back the pair each way for a couple of points and have the favourite to beat both for a brace of 1 pts savers. Mullins will win the first at Punchestown, and yes it’s odds-on, but this is like getting 1000% interest rates per hour compound! Course and distance specialist MASSINI MAN is back at Musselburgh in the 3:20 and will have 5 pts of my wedge to win at 3s.
