ENUGUMENE didn’t disappoint his fans in The Irish Arkle at Leopardstown never appearing to come out of first gear. Widely available at 5/1 before the race, he was slashed into 5/2 and 9/4 following his electric victory. The Tony Bloom owned seven-year-old didn’t jump with fluency during the race but hitting the front around four furlongs out, he extended his lead on the bridle and despite jumping right at the final fence, he cruised to a 10 length victory. SHISHKIN is still favourite for the race but has been pushed out to 10/11 off the back of Enugumene’s effort – it is now a two-horse race.
