Greetings!
It’s time again to enjoy the unofficial ‘5th Major’, the Players Championship at the iconic TPC Stadium course in Sawgrass, with its infamous Par 3 17th island hole.
Previous winners have ranked highly on their accurate play and been good scramblers and putters. The key required stat is Strokes Gained Approach.
Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion, hit 54 of the 72 holes in regulation and won by 5 shots. With all this in mind, here are my Big 5 Selections: Name and Current Price:
Scottie Scheffler 11/2: See above. Armed with his new putter, the World #1 blew the field away at Bay Hill last week and is strongly fancied to do so again.
Max Homa 25/1: Loves Sawgrass and has been showing improved form in recent weeks.
Will Zalatoris 33/1: Back to form after injury, he will be a threat to all.
Shane Lowry 40/1: Great course form and in sparkling form.
Justin Thomas 22/1: Another Sawgrass fan, he has been looking more like his old self recently.
Throw in Satith Theegala 60/1, who will relish the crowd involvement, and stake 5pts to win on Scheffler and 1 point each-way on the others. After 54 holes, look out  for Brian Harman 60/1, who has excellent course form and last year’s runner-up, Min Woo Lee 50/1

Good Luck – Sandy Lane

HELP KEEP THE RACEWEB VOICE ALIVE

Annual domain registrations, site hosting, software licences, form guides, research costs and a host of other minor and but not inconsequential outgoings are the burden for all website owners.

Even the smallest donation can make the difference between the Off and On switch.

It’s not just that once in a while we actually prove accurate, and you possibly make a bit of pocket money, but occasionally, we might perhaps suggest a view that could possibly change someone’s mind. For the better.

That’s a lot of Maybes and Possiblies, but sometimes we have to try and change a plan or encourage them to move a mountain, and if that means we make you smile, or shout with anger, or shake with laughter, then Huzzah!

That’s your donation that did that. Thank You.
