One day I shall find the time to see where I’m going wrong on the Diary front. I hadn’t realised the Cesarewitch was part of the Future Champions fixture, which used to be Champions Day which moved to Ascot. Never mind – I also get confused by the Autumn Stakes which used to be at Ascot and was then moved to become a supporting race for the Cesarewitch and then Future Champions and is now all melded together. It was run once at Salisbury too I think. Then we have the start of the NH season at Chepstow – which I assumed started at Cheltenham in two weeks time. I had also forgotten – or perhaps ignored would be a better word – that there was TV racing today. So today’s selections are:…

1:50 NEWMARKET Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (G3) Cl1 (2yo) 5f

ILLUSTRATING e/w

2:10 CHEPSTOW Professor Caroline Tisdall Supports Heroic Jumpers Veterans’ Hcap Chase Cl2 (10yo+ 0-150) 2m7½f

I like the look of SOME CHAOS here, who I remember noting when he pulled up in The Scottish National last year. He’s had a wind op over the summer and should give a good account of himself.

SOME CHAOS Win

2:25 NEWMARKET Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (G3) (Fillies) Cl1 (2yo) 7f

GIFTED GOLD is taking a major step up here from her maiden win
at Newcastle but that is beginning to look like a decent race with Mellow Yellow winning since. The favourite is rated 100 and the second favourite is 95 so it is obviously a big call – but she impressed at Newcastle and at 7s she is a decent e/w shout.

GIFTED GOLD ew/

2:45 CHEPSTOW Unibet Persian War Novices’ Hurdle (G2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m3½f

There are no surprise long-shots here. I could make a case for any of the top 3 in the betting and I suggest Dutching the top two.

LUTTRELL LAD – PASO DOBLE Dutch Win

3:00 NEWMARKET Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Awards Challenge Stakes (G2) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

This is a bit risky although the market looks to be supporting my thinking.  4/5 over 7f and he got to 3l of Palace Pier in the Jaques de la Marois..

CHINDIT Win

3:15 YORK Download The Casumo App Today Hcap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-100) 1m

OUZO won this last year on soft ground, and on the same mark. He likes the course and her likes the ground. What’s not to like?

OUZO e/w

3:35 NEWMARKET bet365 Fillies’ Mile (G1) Cl1 (2yo) 1m

INSPIRAL – no question. Capital P… excellent prospect… but the ground, dear boy, the ground. In which case consider WILD BEAUTY…

WILD BEAUTY e/w – 1pt RFC wiuth INSPIRAL

3:50 YORK Casumo Dare To Be Different Hcap Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m6f

A brace of long-shots here with soft-ground form and who are both within three pounds of their last winning weight.

ANNANDALE e/w – ECLIPSE DE LUNAR e/w

4:10 NEWMARKET bet365 Old Rowley Cup Hcap Cl2 (3yo) 1m4f

Archie Watson runs SOUTHERN VOYAGE here who won a shade too cosily for my eye and looks to be improving. ANJAZATI looks a decent prospect

ANJAZATI Win – SOUTHERN VOYAGE e/w

HELP KEEP THE RACEWEB VOICE ALIVE

Annual domain registrations, site hosting, software licences, form guides, research costs and a host of other minor and but not inconsequential outgoings are the burden for all website owners.

Even the smallest donation can make the difference between the Off and On switch.

It’s not just that once in a while we actually prove accurate, and you possibly make a bit of pocket money, but occasionally, we might perhaps suggest a view that could possibly change someone’s mind. For the better.

That’s a lot of Maybes and Possiblies, but sometimes we have to try and change a plan or encourage them to move a mountain, and if that means we make you smile, or shout with anger, or shake with laughter, then Huzzah!

That’s your donation that did that. Thank You.
