The 1000 Guineas – and a Thank You

I know, I know. I was going to take a day off. But lying abed, feeling sorry for oneself, only works for so long, and besides, I also sensed the Raceform and Timeform race readers were gathering over the video reruns of my life. I could feel them polishing off the racing suffixes to be appended to the Kneesup Memorial Stakes. Retired Hurt – Slipped Up – Unseated Rider – Fell – Ran Out – Cancel All Engagements, Dead.

So a good night’s kip, another Green Tea, and a brace of Sourdough en Marmite toast, and normality is in sight. What has really speeded the recovery, however, are the touching messages of concern from Raceweb supporters. I am putting pixels to the screen, therefore, to thank all of you who texted etc your concern and support. Please remember however that it is no more, nor less, than everyone else, has had – it’s just that I have a platform on which to whine. So put your minds at rest, the Will has not been read yet, and in any event, surely you will have made enough yesterday from the Kneesup selections which generated an 83pt profit and an overall 92 point profit for four days of Punchestown. We had winners at 22/1, 14/1, 16/1, 11/2, and we had placed selections at 12/1, 50/1, 16/1, and 150/1. Not bad for a sickie.

I have also rewatched MOHAAFETH’s Newmarket Stakes. Jim Crowley remained motionless throughout and never touched the horse. He won’t go in the Dante which is too soon but will go straight to The Derby. Haggas is very excited in the manner of Haggas – which means it is hardly noticeable. However, before his sad demise, William had almost insisted that Shk Hamdan and Angus Gold go and have a look at him –  “he is your next Derby winner”. The horse has, in my opinion, a massive e/w chance. If you can get 10s, sell the house. If you can get 8s, sell the children.

In the hope of managing your expectations, here are some probably dreadful tips for today and again my thanks. It means a lot.

HELP KEEP THE RACEWEB VOICE ALIVE

Annual domain registrations, site hosting, software licences, form guides, research costs and a host of other minor and but not inconsequential outgoings are the burden for all website owners.

Even the smallest donation can make the difference between the Off and On switch.

It’s not just that once in a while we actually prove accurate, and you possibly make a bit of pocket money, but occasionally, we might perhaps suggest a view that could possibly change someone’s mind. For the better.

That’s a lot of Maybes and Possiblies, but sometimes we have to try and change a plan or encourage them to move a mountain, and if that means we make you smile, or shout with anger, or shake with laughter, then Huzzah!

That’s your donation that did that. Thank You.
